Asia is home to major electric vehicle industries as well as rapidly growing markets for motorcycles, three-wheelers, buses, and urban delivery vehicles.

In Pasig City, SOLUTIONSplus supported locally produced electric quadricycles for municipal and community uses. One prototype incorporated second-life batteries, while a digital booking system supported shared-fleet operations. In Kathmandu, demonstrations included locally adapted light electric vehicles and work on electric public transport and vehicle conversion. Activities were accompanied by technical training and policy work on charging and conversion standards. Hanoi explored shared electric bicycles and two-wheelers as connections to public transport.

UNEP-supported programmes across Asia address two- and three-wheelers, buses, light-duty vehicles, charging and battery swapping.
